Okinawa is a prefecture of Japan that belongs to the Nansei Archipelago, located between the Pacific Ocean and the East China Sea.
The multiple islands of the archipelago offer wild landscapes and magnificent beaches, making it a paradise destination for many tourists and Japanese alike.

Due to its history which isolated it for a long time from Japan, Okinawa has preserved its own culture, very different from the rest of the archipelago. It is also home to several US military bases, the main one located in Okinawa Hontō.
